Charlie struggled with his weight since the age of 13, when he was shocked by how chubby he looked in his Bar Mitzvah photos. He decided to make some changes. After reading Susan Powter’s bestseller “Stop The Insanity,” he started running in his hilly Bay Area hometown of Hercules, CA. He lost weight and began high school as a puny freshman. Unfortunately, this did not stick. For the next 12 years, he would gain weight then exercise like crazy to lose it. He tried it all: Taebo twice a day, Body For Life, Slow Burn weight-lifting, traditional weight-lifting, swimming, the elliptical machine, spinning, and Bikram Yoga, among other programs.
Then he discovered kettlebells. Immediately he loved the way kettlebell training made his body feel! The fluid movements and the short time investment required sold him. And the results were striking and quick! Others soon noticed that his body was becoming harder and more defined. And he was not feeling the stress and pain that traditional weight-lifting always caused.
He quickly saw the possibility to help people achieve their fitness goals by training them in their homes with kettlebells. So Charlie passed the grueling Russian Kettlebell Challenge to become a Russian Kettlebell Certified Instructor (RKC) and Homobody.Com was born.
I've been fat, and I've been thin. Thin is better." -Susan Powter
Charlie holds a Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and a Master's of Science Degree from San Diego State. He is a former competitive gymnast, swimmer, dancer, and collegiate cheerleader.
