Homobody Tip #20: Be your own personal trainer

The same way not everyone can afford a personal chef, not everyone can afford a personal trainer.

If you can’t afford one, that doesn’t mean you can’t have great or tough workouts.

I talk to people all the time who tell me that the only way they will ever exercise is if they have a trainer. I think that is sad, and though I would love to train all of these people, the sad truth is that many of them can’t or won’t pay what a trainer costs.

Now, while a trainer (speaking for myself) provides value that far exceeds cost, it is still possible for you to achieve results on your own.

Here are a few tips on how you can be your own personal trainer:

  1. Plan your workout (fail to plan = plan to fail).
  2. Use a stopwatch or timer (I love the Gymboss, a Homobody Tip of its own).
  3. Create a bangin’ playlist.
  4. Imagine someone is there pushing you (the trainer within).
  5. Congratulate yourself
