So you’re hungry: what do you eat?
The first thing you should put in your mouth is the most pure, least altered foods and flavors.
There are two reasons for this. First, tastes are heightened when you are most hungry. I always say (but I didn’t make it up) “Hunger is the best seasoning.” Second, if you eat more aggressive-tasting foods before subtler-tasting ones, the subtler ones will taste bland.
Let’s say you are going to eat some kale and some lasagna. You’ll want to make the most of your KALE and eat it first. You’ll enjoy it more and it will make incorporating healthful foods easy!
One more thing: doing this will also save you cooking time and effort since you won’t have to go to great lengths to make the kale as flavorful as the lasagna. Just prepare it simply and enjoy!
This Homobody Tip was inspired by Ori Hofmeklar’s Warrior Diet which I am trying out this week (with a homobody twist, of course!). I’ll write more about it in a few weeks.
